Buying the wrong CD

Weeks pass without buying CDs, so when I do actually pass the cash notes over, I wish I could get my purchasing right. The other weekend before I got my tax return I bought myself a little present. I bought 3 CDs, without even thinking very hard: I like this one (Bit By Bats) and this one (Sleepy Jackson) and I need a replacement copy of this one (Nick Drake).

Spent more money on CDs at once than in my whole life and didn't regret it a bit.

But last week, when I left work early to go to yoga class, and then skipped yoga class to go to the music shop, I bought the wrong CD. I went there to buy the Architecture in Helsinki CD, then thought because I liked their gig so much I wouldn't like their album (?) and then thought I'd take a punt on Interpol before swapping it for a Nick Cave best of (again, to replace a missing CD). (Hmmm, skipping exercise leads to bad experience, who would have thought it?)

There is nothing wrong with the CD, except I don't like best of CDs normally, and I didn't manage to buy or snub anything I desperately want. If I wanted to fill my back catalogue, why didn't I get The Church? If I wanted something new and perky, why couldn't I commit to AinH? I think I thought they were too quirky, too cute, too young, not serious enough. I told myself that just because I liked their gig, didn't mean I could recreate it by listening to their CD.

Even think I should have bought the Rufus Wainwright CD instead of good ole Nick Cave, even though I think my Mum would pay me to take away Doc's copy of Rufus from the house. (He bought it because of "little sister" which makes him sentimental; it is quite nice that my Mum is married to someone who likes shopping at Big Star).
