Douglas Coupland is still my hero
So I have finished re-reading Generation X, and used it to lead a few conversations, all unwitting book group style with my friends. I love how DC can tell a great story with curious interesting characters and along the way he will describe a moment or a house interior or a suburban memory that seems to completely capture the zeitgeist and link me to his fiction.
Another new author I was reading last night, Siri Hustveldt (totally misspelt I am sure, sorry Siri, you deserve better), had a sentence I must paraphrase:
He wrote meaningless prose with great style
Have bookmarked that page so when I remember to bring my book to the computer I can add the real words.
Oh and happy Australia Day! Had a fabulous day, even though I missed "Miranda on the Verandah"-Meg and Pete's backyard screening of Picnic at Hanging Rock.
