Funny AND Nice
Entered new and potentially dangerous territory last night when I invited Ben over for a return roast meal; and gave the other 2 chairs at the doll house to P and M. (Who I must say is the worlds biggest champion-I like her more and more every day!)
In every encounter I've had with Ben I've always thought he was so nice, like a novelty, like a Hugh Jackman-is-he-for-real nice? But what if I introduced him to the gang and it turned out that secretly he had a bad personality? But he wasn't; they loved him and when he conveniently left the house on cream-for-dessert fetching mission, the girls lauched into a complimentary character analysis. And he was funny-I hadn't noticed that so much before, but quick off the cuff to respond. He recommended the eating of left over chocolate pudding for breakfast the next day...
At the end of the night we were swapping notes about relationships and having a life, and I explained the need to have a social life in addition to a romantic life. Said that A and I had been together so long it was a foundation, but I needed friends around that. He got it.
