having your holidays interfered with
Holidays being precious things, it's important to put boundaries around them so you can enjoy the leisure time as much as possible. Consequently staying with parents or trying to catch public transport in the middle of the day in Adelaide aren't the hottest ideas. Nor are phone interviews that you have to STUDY for, but that is what I have lined up for this Friday.... Lucky me, no really, lucky me that I have an interview.
However, enjoying my sojourn in lovely dynamic design friendly Melbourne, bought a funky dress for $20 and saw the Bill Henson photograph exhibition at Tolarno galleries (which is where I'd like to have my studio); Simon Derham's landscapes at TenEleven Gallery in Armadale (nice gallery and nice cafe next door, but otherwise a bit too Burnside for me), and Light Photographic, an exhibition of pieces acquired by the Smorgon trust fund at Fed Square-good pieces by Darren Siwes and a new up and comer, whose name I have forgotten already! Oh dear.
Just need a new hat... and a hairstyle that works with the little caps I am eying off.
Oh, and had the best best BEST experience at an art supplies shop in Fitzroy, called Neill's art supplies (you can already see why I am partial to it), they said they knew lots about printing and they did. Bought some better quality inks for monotype prints (will save my water based inks for block cuts) and a roll of paper which of course I left behind in the black cat and nearly left behind at the Fitzroy Pool. Got very inspired at bieng in a such a huge warehouse full of paints and pastel crayons and frames and paper and inks and people bieng productive and the guy sketched me a do it yourself printing kit: G clamps, chipboards and old blankets. Sounds like a job for me and Grandad to do...
Also saw Blackeyed Susans play at Marquis of Lorne, a nice crowd of 30 and 40 somethings gathered together drinking nice beer and enjoying the Sunday evening....
