Fire
was just remembering how nice it was to sit around a large open fire down at the Grassy Head retreat. We'd spent the weekend talking about the elements. And then we were all seated, at least 40 of us, around a fire, flicking large orange flames that you could still see through. All the people from the retreat were there, as well as different neighbours invited along, a young husband and wife and kids, different people living in this slightly tucked away peaceful place.
The afternoon after tennis we went and sat at the headland overlooking Southey's beach. I had the paper and was a bit distracted and it was a bit cold, but it was still possible to sit there and appreciate the beauty of the spot, watching the ocean swell, breakers coming in, the tiny bodies of surfers waiting to catch a wave, they about the size of my fingernail. So I felt like a giant perched at the top of the world, imagined what it would be like to have to run down to the sand and catch their attention...
