Positive things * got my haircut this morning. Someone called "eleath" did the shampoo. He is the new coollest person I have met this month. * *got my friend to admit that ben affleck isn't that bad (why is this a positive? why do I care? good question. But have begrudgingly decided that he isn't that bad and just plays dumb).

Has been a busy week, travelling across three states, seeing Gretski again (pictured, getting all shy), avoiding conflict, embracing the opposite of conflict (peace, authenticity, being in the moment?). Adelaide was so so, there were good moments (watching the kids play soccer, Gus calling my name from the top of the playground cubby house, Ash saying "Thank you Georgie" multiple times and seeking my style assistance with his fisherman pants, buying new-to-me affordable clothes at Hype and Seek (oh the smugness of wearing recycled clothing!), reading The Flying Troutmans by Miriam Toeuw who is a genius Canadian writer, seeing my sister, spinning the colour pods in the night light with Ned and Gus (see photo), seeing my friends, hearing that one had passed her exams!). Anniversary of Grandad

When my youngest was young, eldest thought he was Grandad reincarnated (same day of earth arrival). As it happens, Grandad died on my nephew's birthday, which we celebrate this year at a pub that is okay but nothing special, compared to gaslight , as enthusiastically recommended to Guy.  Nephew agreed people who barrack for the Crows are like flat earthers. I like Melbournite's admiring my Tigers scarf.  SIL came by to pick up youngest who offered to help with chores if I didn't make him leave and told her he'd made himself baked beans and a chip butty, like a before character on a heart attack advertisement.  Meanwhile eldest unhappy ever since he headlined, I feel like a bad parent for sending him to a Car clew camp. Right now, he's chatting on the phone about something being 'bad', his friend is asking 'how bad' he's saying, 'pretty bad', but I can't tell if he's talking about his pash rash or cello practice or a faux pas.  (Up...

What I did on my holidays

Browsed for books at The Whistling Fish and met Fleur and JJ ("it's just JJ") and drank lots of coffee, "helping" Fleur refine her technique. Got bogged at Third Ramp . Got towed out by Gino and one of his 5 kids. Watched Bec and Phil teach Gino's kids to surf . Half heartedly surfed. Swapped to body boarding. Dozed on slumberous pile of beach towels on back seat whilst drinking an ale from the ice bucket. Got sunburnt. Got bitten by more mosquitos than ever before in my entire life. Went to Russet Ridge to see where Andrew Mandrew will be living in 2006. Fantasised about living in the country, roaming auction clearance sales, living in a house with old wood furniture and sleeping on antique linen, making friends with other "youngies" living in the country (thanks Francie for the term). Did lots of lino printing. Found out why Robe is called Robe. Pete suggested it was because the first settlers wore "nothing but robes". Pete is wrong. ...
