What happened in the last month

I became engaged. I was offered a new job in my old home town. For 2 days I worried over it (was it compatible with life changes happening etc-more of which will become apparent) and then finally was able to say yes (which I wanted to do) with the support of my now fiance, Mr A. The week that I received the job offer I was actually back in town. I also saw my old school friend for only the 2nd time in 8 years-didn't take us long to fill in gaps and get back up to speed. She told me of her op shopping glories and recommended a Hampstead Gardens op shop for it's vintage wedding dress collection.

Naturally whilst we were having brunch at Tin Cat Cafe, we saw a former schoolmate, from the year level below, still very attractive but very matronly now and this brought up reminisces and grievances from our school days. Which, as I pointed out to K, is now exactly half a lifetime ago. Scary. Feeling very relieved about being able to live in my own place: have come to hate the rental process, how it involves compromise, applications, being at the mercy of agents and rent rises and feeling as though you are treading water.

Had a lovely time hanging out with my 3 nephews, now aged 3,8 and 10. The 10 year old climbed trees at Womad in his fisherman pants, was offhand about his musical choices. His school mate Finn had baked chocolate brownies for everyone, and was very eager to share his cooking with me. I gave him my phone camera to take photos and he captured all of my nephews in various climbing positions. My nephew took close up photos of our eyeballs and recorded my 3 year old nephew yelling "(Finn is tall, tall, tall" He's been obsessed with height, I have all these recordings on my phone of him laughing his head off saying "I'm not taller than G! I'm not taller than my mummy!". He's also obsessed with counting, and told me his favourite food was cucumber, sausages, pancakes, honey and peanut butter.

My 8 year old nephew is into prank calls, and was desperate to do a prank call. So at Mum's house we snuck away to the bedroom and phoned the house line. I had to ask for my stepfather. "Who wants to speak to him?" asked Mum, showing she can't even recognise her own daughers voice. Doc came to the phone whilst G asked him "Is your phone running? Are you sure? You better go and catch it!!!". Then he hung up the phone, fell about laughing and then went to assess the shock factor. He repeated the joke the next day with Andy to somewhat less effect as he started the conversation by announcing his name, had to hang up and start again. He's so funny, and takes himself so seriously.
