I op therefore I am

This is good.

Adelaide needs a site like this. The disadvantages (giving away op shopping secrets) outweigh the benefits (glorify op shopping, making do, recyling, reusing! Claim back the limelight from overpriced eco/organic shopping-which is good, when you have an actual need for new stuff, but buying it when you may not need it, is no greener, in my view).

Here are the tips I gave Jacqui:
  • Vinnies at Port Adelaide on St Vincent Street (is this the only case of a St Vincent De Pauls being on a same named street?) is very nice, tidy, good stock, lots of cushions, homewares, vintage, retro, childrens wear, good jeans and cords.
  • Quaker op shop on Kensington Road has good childrens section, organised by gender and sizes, plus frequently changing stock of retro homewares and linen brought in by locals
  • Save the Children at Glenside has good book section, with a plethora of Womens Weekly souvenir editions of royal weddings/royal profiles, as well as good clothing section-got the Kid hawaiin shorts
  • Vinnies at Norwood, Save the Children & Salvos at St Morris/Kensington Gardens/Magill all have Saturday opening hours
In return, Jacqui suggested vague details of a once monthly church op shop held on St Bernards Road, the vagueness of the details naturally got me excited and made me reminisce about the best op shop sale I ever went to (Red Cross? Held at Immanual College, things were priced at 20 cents, there was so much stock).
